Friendship

The Prophet - Kahlil Gibran - with illustrations by the authorYour friend is your needs answered.
He is your field which you sow with love and reap with thanksgiving.
And he is your board and your fireside.
For you come to him with your hunger, and you seek him for peace.
When your friend speaks his mind you fear not the "nay" in your own mind, nor do you withhold the "ay."
And when he is silent your heart ceases not to listen to his heart;
For without words, in friendship, all thoughts, all desires, all expectations are born and shared, with joy that is unacclaimed.
When you part from your friend, you grieve not;
For that which you love most in him may be clearer in his absence, as the mountain to the climber is clearer from the plain.
And let there be no purpose in friendship save the deepening of the spirit.

For love that seeks aught but the disclosure of its own mystery is not love but a net cast forth: and only the unprofitable is caught.

And let your best be for your friend.
If he must know the ebb of your tide, let him know its flood also.
For what is your friend that you should seek him with hours to kill?
Seek him always with hours to live.
For it is his to fill your need, but not your emptiness.

And in the sweetness of friendship let there be laughter, and sharing of pleasures.
For in the dew of little things the heart finds its morning and is refreshed.

-The PROPHET, by Kahlil Gibran On Friendship

Sometimes it isn't yourself who knows you best. It is those for which whom have know you the longest. Goodtimes and bad. Friends who not only have been there for you but you have had the honor of being there for them. I go to my friends with every msjor decision I have in my life and sometimes I take their advice and sometimes I don't. But, I always listen. For not only do they have my best wishes at heart but know me more than I know myself sometimes. with my life being flung into the chaos that has been the past 3 weeks I am finding refuge in a friend that who has known me for a great while. Someone who has been there for me when all others were not. Someone I trust, rely upon, and respect. In your life you may only find few people who you can equate these words with. I am glad that I found this one.

Whoever built Stonehenge, the 5,000-year-old circle of megaliths that towers over green fields in southern England and lures a million visitors a year, couldn't have planned for the automobile. If they had, they might have defused a growing controversy over proposals to dig a massive car tunnel a few hundred yards from one of Europe's best-known historical sites. A solar eclipse passes over the ancient stone circle monument at Stonehenge on Salisbury plain in this August 11, 1999 file photo. (Dan Chung/Reuters)

In these matters the only certainty is that nothingis certain.

    You may have heard something similar to thisbut here is my own version.

    Theirare 3 types of people in this world.

  • thosewho do what they say they are going to do
  • thosewho think they are going to do the things they say they'lldo
  • And thosewho saythey will do something to make themselvesfeel better

    I have come to the conclusion that they are just way too many flakypeople in this world. Whatever happend to honor and "your word being your bond?" Any questions?

    People often wonder "Whats wrong with this world?" If you need to know people have just come accustomed to lying whenever it suits them. Forget about little white lies; these people tell you something then not follow through. We demonize our predessors but our generation will be far worse because we lost honor. Most will say they'll do something and not follow through. What is so wrong with doing what you have told someone you are going to do?

    Just some mindless ranting.
